When it comes to choosing and applying an SPF (Sun Protection Factor), you want to keep a few things in mind: - Look for a product that has "broad-spectrum" UVA/UVB protection.
- SPF should have a minimum of 30 for face and body.
- Many facial moisturizers and Primers now have an SPF in them. During the summer months, try using these in conjunction with your sunscreen/sunblock.
- Stay away from any sunscreens that have "Anti-aging w/ Vitamin A" on the label. Topical Vitamin A tends to make skin more susceptible to UV exposure by increasing photosensitivity in the skin. That's why vitamin A retinoid topical creams are encouraged to be used at night by most dermatologists.
- Don't forget to protect those bits we often neglect by applying SPF on your: feet, toes, hands, ears, tops of exposed heads, and lips! There are many lip balms that offer SPF protection for men and woman. Pucker up and apply baby! SMOOCH!
So get out there and GLOW this summer but remember to protect that gorgeous skin of yours. (Your 60 year old self will thank you.) .............................................................................................................................
